What Is Daft Punk Doing in a Technology Company’s Communication?

The best-known biography in the world belongs to someone whose face you may never have seen: Giorgio Moroder. But you might know him as Giorgio. (See: https://youtu.be/zhl-Cs1-sG4)

Giorgio by Moroder, from Random Access Memories, the album Daft Punk released in 2013 and one of the most successful albums of all time, is more than a magnificent track: it also contains the biography of a legend who transformed the music world with his innovations. Streamed more than a hundred million times on Spotify alone, the track turns Giorgio Moroder’s life story into the best-known biography in the world. Whether Daft Punk’s aim was to show their gratitude to someone who laid the foundations of the art they practice, no one knows, but it is a fact that what they did served that purpose.

While designing the marketing communications for the technologies and solutions of Komtaş, Turkey’s largest Data and Analytics Ecosystem, which brings together some of the world’s most advanced technologies such as Google Cloud, Dataiku, Informatica, Teradata, Crosser and Elastic, we realized that the communication we were doing on the usual suspects of digital (Google, Facebook, LinkedIn) didn’t support the story we wanted to tell well enough, due to the nature of those channels. It was obvious that we needed a Daft Punk for more holistic, deeper, more memorable and more effective communication.

With this in mind, together with Bebar Bilim, one of Turkey’s most valuable YouTube channels focused on science and technology, we launched the DATA LITERACY program, so that people could read, write and, most importantly, think with data, the most valuable treasure of the new world.

This initiative, which we brought to life with Bebar Bilim and which reached more than a million people in a very short time, both supplies the fundamental need (data literacy) required to achieve sustainable success with digital transformation and, through Bebar Bilim’s reach across every segment of society, spreads this supply to society at large with a sense of social responsibility.

You can reach the Bebar Bilim channel, which we are very happy to be walking alongside, by clicking here, and you can watch the videos about the journey we set out on with Bebar Bilim through the links below.
